NSF Invites Ten Players for Match-Play 2020

The NSF National Coach, Anthony Ikolo has invited the League of Distinguished Scrabble Players to the Match Play 2020. This is in preparation for the 2nd Alchemist Cup and the 14th Africa Scrabble Championships coming up in November 2020.

ALCHEMIST CUP – Modalities for Invitation

To be invited and selected here means a player must have satisfied the following modalities/criteria including

  • Players in the top 7 that have been active in 2019 on the NSF Ratings.
  • 3 youth players to be invited
  • Players to be fully licensed for 2020
  • Players with good conduct and professionalism
  • Players affiliated with a club side with such club having paid her affiliation fee for 2020.
  • Players with questionable and unruly characters for the year 2019 risk not been invited
  • Players must have played 120 games of the selection process and must remain in the top 5 of the NSF ratings after each selection process.
  • Players to come with their duly prepared score sheets or notebooks and neatly dressed for each selection process.
  • Invited players to desist from postgame analysis after each game.
  • Invited players to record all their games by writing words with the corresponding scores.
  • Players to write a summary report after each day of every selection process and submit the same to the National Coach for onward analysis and evaluation.
  • All invited players to sign compulsorily an NSF Code of Conduct before each selection process.
  • All invited players to show respect for constituted authorities at each point in time.
  • Any player that drops out of the top 10 after each selection process will no longer be invited.
  • Host club/state will be accorded two wildcards only.
  • The selection processes to be rated by WESPA
  • The average mean number of games to qualify will be set at 70 wins for 120 games
  • Note that one will only play 80 games if the player falls off the top 10 and get invited subsequently if not 120 games take precedence.
  • Number 5 position is reserved for the best Youth Player.
  • All invited players to write a daily summary report of their games and submit same to the National Coach.

AFRICA SCRABBLE CHAMPIONSHIP LUSAKA ZAMBIA 19th – 22nd NOVEMBER 2020 (NSF and FMYSD)

The selection process for the ASC will have a 50 games round of play on which the top 10 after the Alchemist Cup selection gets automatic slots to be invited and the following inclusive
  1. The two top female players to be invited
  2. The top 3 youth players with ages from 18 – 25 years to be invited
  3. Two outstanding performances in 2019 get an invitation to participate
  4. Three wildcards to be given at the discretion of the National Coach
  5. Conditions 3 -15 of the ALCHEMIST CUP Selection process to be adhered to.
  6. The best Youth player not in the top 8 after ratings and other criteria here qualifies.
  7. The best female player not in the top 8 after ratings and other spelt in criteria qualify.
     Note that all selection processes for both qualifications will be rated by NSF accordingly.

ALCHEMIST CUP (Voluntary and Self Sponsored)
