Asaph Zadok National Scrabble Championship 2016

The Asaph Zadok National Scrabble Championship is slated for Friday 15th – Sunday 17th April 2016. Arrival is Thursday 14th April. Games commence on Friday 15th April. A total of 24 games will be played over a three day period. Friday – 9 games, Saturday – 9 games and Sunday – 6 games. Venue(tentative) – National Stadium Package B. Participants are selected from qualifying tournaments from participating states. Each State is represented by 4 players with 2 reserve players. The Championship will produce the National Champion  who will receive a  Gold medal (and a Green Jacket) plus  N 150, 000.00

Alfred Butts Club wins 3rd Interclub Championship

Alfred Butts Scrabble club are the winners of the 3rd National Interclub Scrabble Championship. The Abuja based club named after the inventor of the game won 19 games and lost 6 out of 25 rounds and amassed a total of +3446 points to dethrone the defending champion Warri Scrabble Club (won 16, lost 9 +3361) who placed second. Scrabble Champions Tourney to replace WSC

The WESPA has announced premilinary information regarding the Scrabble Champions Tournament which will now replace the World Scrabble Championships. The article can be read at the WESPA website. The WSC is now to continue and be known as Scrabble Champions Tournament. The SCT will now be held annually as opposed to the biennial WSC starting December this year. The SCT will be held as part of the Prague Mind Sports Festival in December yearly. The event will have two categories/divisions: Elite and Open. Pakorn wins 6th Godswill Akpabio Classics

The 6th edition of the Godswill Akpabio International Scrabble Classics was held at the prestigious Le Meridien Ibom Hotels Uyo Akwa Ibom State from the 28th to 30th September 2012. 308 players gathered to play the game of Scrabble at the Nwaniba Hall in an event which has the highest total prize monies in Scrabble worldwide. Diaspora Invitational Scrabble Tournament

The first Diaspora Invitational Scrabble tournament for Nigerians in Diaspora was held on the 22nd of April 2012 in U.K . The event was organized by the President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation Toke Aka.
